International Poverty Line IPL

The international poverty line is a monetary threshold under which an individual is considered to be living in poverty
It is calculated by taking the poverty threshold from each country – given the value of the g ods needed to sustain one adult – and converting it into dollars
The international poverty line was originally set to roughly $1 a day.
It allows institutions to determine which populations are considered to be in absolute poverty
The World Bank sets the international poverty line at periodic intervals as the cost of living for basic food, clothing, and shelter around the world changes

For many countries, the social relevance of the International Poverty Line (IPL) has lessened over time as their economies have grown. This is largely due to the observance that needs change as the world becomes richer.
SPL is a combination of the absolute IPL and a poverty line that is relative to the median income level of each country
The value of the SPL will never be less than the IPL
Introduced by World Bank based on recommendations of the Atkinson Commission on Global Poverty.

MPI 2018 have been revised to better align with the SDGs.
The new global MPI has changes in five of the ten indicators from the original MPI: nutrition, child mortality, and years of schooling, housing and assets
Nutrition: The new threshold for nutrition includes BMI (Body Mass Index)- for-age, and stunting as well as underweight for children
Child Mortality: it considers whether a child has, sadly, perished in the household in the last five years preceding the interview date
Years of schooling, the new threshold requires six years, rather than five years, of schooling.
A household is deprived in the housing indicator if the floor is made of natural materials; or the roof or walls are made of natural or rudimentary materials
Assets indicator now includes ownership of computers and animal carts

Inclusive wealth measures countries’ wealth in terms of progress, well-being and long-term sustainability.
A country’s inclusi e wealth is the social value (not dollar price) of all its capital assets, including natural capital, human capital and produced capital
If inclusive wealth is positive, then well-being across generations is positive.
