Technical textiles are material and products manufactured primarily for their technical properties and functional requirements rather than for aesthetic characteristics.
It has wide range of applications such as agro-textiles, medical textiles, geo-textiles, protection-textiles, industrial-textiles, sports-textiles and many other usages

Jute Sector

Rainfall: 120 to 150 cm,

To increase exports of jute and jute products by achieving a CAGR of 15% per annum,
produce good quality jute fibre and value added diversified jute products
ensure remunerative prices to the jute farmers and
enhance per hectare yield of raw jute.

Launched in 2015, by National Jute Board (under Ministry of Textiles) for better agronomic practices through;
Distribution of quality certified seeds at 50% subsidy.
Line sowing of jute using seed drill to increase yield by 10-15%;
Reducing the cost of weeding by wheel hoeing/nail weeder instead of hand weeding.

90 per cent of the food grains produced in the country is to be packaged in jute sack
20 per cent of the sugar production is to be packaged in jute sack
There have often been complaints against a section of the jute industry for supplying substandard bags, recycled bags and bags imported cheap from Nepal for supply under the Act

Coordination & Market Development,
Quality Certification Systems (QCS)/Export Brand Promotion & Technology Up-gradation

Achieve self-sufficiency in silk production by 2022
Improving production of highest grade quality of silk.
Convergence at the State level with the schemes of other Ministries like MGNREGS of Rural Development, RKVY & PMKSY of Ministry of Agriculture, for maximizing benefits to the Seri culturists.

It has initiated various programmes for growth and development of the silk industry including trade shows and fairs across the world.
It also facilitates meetings between exporters and potential customers

Refund of duty of customs and duty of central excise that are chargeable on imported and indigenous materials used in the manufacture of exported goods.
It is of two types;

The All Industry Rate (AIR) : an average rate based on the average quantity and value of inputs and duties (both Excise & Customs)
The Brand Rate of Duty Drawback: is allowed in cases where the export product does not have any AIR of Duty Drawback or the same neutralizes less than 4/5th of the duties paid on materials used in the manufacture of export goods

This scheme will be applicable only to exporters who have constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in pursuance of the Sexual Harassment of women at workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013
Not applicable for exports made under pre-existing Advance Authorisation Scheme

It will be implemented through textile industry and recognised public and private training institutes of textile sector.
It will cover entire value chain of textile excluding Spinning & Weaving in organized Sector.
The scheme will have National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) training courses
Successful trainees will be assessed and certified by an accredited Assessment Agency
Funding to the institution will be available only when the Internal Complaints Committee to be constituted under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, is in place
